Code of Conduct for Event Attendees
We want everyone attending our events to feel safe, welcome, and celebrated. This Code of Conduct outlines the values and expectations we ask all attendees to follow. You can download a PDF of the Code of Conduct here.
Our Commitment
Busselton Pride Alliance events are inclusive spaces that celebrate LGBTQIA+SB people and communities. We are committed to creating environments that are:
Respectful
Accessible
Safe
By attending our events, you agree to uphold these values.
What’s Expected of You
We ask all attendees to:
Respect others' identities, pronouns, and boundaries.
Misgendering, deadnaming, or questioning someone’s gender or sexuality is not acceptable.Be kind, inclusive, and welcoming.
Treat others with dignity, listen actively, and make space for everyone.
Obtain consent.
Always ask before touching or hugging another person, or before taking photos or videos.
Use language that is respectful and inclusive.
No slurs, hate speech, or discriminatory jokes will be tolerated.Be mindful of your impact.
Be mindful of other people’s physical and emotional boundaries. Step back if you're dominating conversation or space. If you haven’t had a chance to contribute but feel comfortable doing so, we encourage you to step forward and share your voice.Keep our spaces safe and substance-aware.
Follow all venue guidelines regarding smoking, alcohol, or other substances. Intoxication that disrupts the event or others' comfort or safety is not acceptable.Report harmful behaviour.
If you witness or experience something that doesn't feel right, please let us know as soon as possible.
Community Safety and Emergency Response
We prioritise the physical and emotional safety of all attendees, especially those from communities historically targeted by police, including Indigenous, transgender, and queer people. We acknowledge the harm that police presence can cause in LGBTQIA+ spaces and are committed to minimising distress or escalation. If police attend a situation, they will be asked to remain outside unless absolutely necessary. In any medical or mental health emergency, the first response will always be to contact a nominated next of kin or emergency medical services (e.g. an ambulance). Police will only be invited into the space if there is an immediate and serious risk to life that cannot be otherwise managed.
Child Safety Statement
Busselton Pride Alliance is committed to creating events where children and young people are safe, respected, and empowered. All adults attending our events share a responsibility to uphold child safety, act appropriately, and report concerns. We do not tolerate any behaviour that endangers or disrespects young people.
Unacceptable Behaviour
The following behaviours will not be tolerated:
Harassment of any kind (verbal, physical, sexual, or online)
Discrimination or exclusion based on gender identity, sexuality, race, disability, age, or any other characteristic
Bullying, intimidation, or threatening behaviour
Unwelcome advances or inappropriate comments
Recording or photographing others without consent
